Union Mills, on the Ohio and Erie Canal, Scioto County, Ohio

Lemuel Moss built the first flouring mill at what became known as Union Mills in 1834. The original mill burned and was rebuilt in 1838 by Moss. Located at Locks 50, 51, and 52 of the Ohio and Erie Canal, Union Mills processed corn for flour and feed, which was later manufactured into whiskey at the Union Mills Distillery. The flouring mill was torn down in 1898.
